Overview

Dominance

Dominance is a synthetic metric which describes as a percent the dominance of one asset in relation to the total cryptocurrency market.

Metrics

Dominance can be described with:

Dominance definition
X dominance=X market captotal market capX\ dominance = \frac{X\ market\ cap}{total\ market\ cap}

Where market cap is defined as:

Market cap definition
X market cap=X priceX circulating supplyX\ market\ cap = X\ price * X\ circulating\ supply

And total market cap is formulated with:

Total market cap definition
total market cap=all cryptocurrenciespricecirculating supplytotal\ market\ cap = \sum_{\text{all cryptocurrencies}}{price * circulating\ supply}

Methodology

After careful analysis we've concluded that the most uniform dominance calculation distribution occurs with the top 200 market capitalization assets, e.g.:

Per-provider Dominance calculation
X dominance=X market captop 200 market capsX\ dominance = \frac{X\ market\ cap}{\sum top\ 200\ market\ caps}
